High School Completion

Our High School Completion programs help you earn the credential you need to prepare for post-secondary education, further training, military service, or employment. SVC has several options for adult students who want to complete high school.

About the Program

HS+ Adult High School Diploma is a competency-based high school completion program for adults 21 years of age or older who do not have a high school diploma or GED®. High school competency requirements may be met through high school and college coursework and/or prior learning gained from work, life, and/or military experience. Unmet requirements may be achieved through additional coursework at Skagit Valley College.

  • Credit may be awarded for your life or work experiences that meet the required competencies;
  • Earn college credit while completing your high school diploma;
  • Meets high school diploma requirements for employment and military service;

  • Information and planning for further education or career training.


  • You must be 21 years of age or older to earn an HS+ Adult High School Diploma. Individuals 19 years of age or more who have not earned a high school diploma may enroll in high school completion classes.
  • If you are 16-18 and have not graduated from high school, you must provide a high school release form (obtainable from the high school where you currently live), or if homeschooled, a notarized statement of homeschooling. If you are under age 20, you may be eligible for the Open Doors program.

Other Program Requirements

  • Official high school transcript(s) for evaluation of completed high school coursework, if available.
  • Must complete HS+ Portfolio class, (HSC 010,) for evaluation of competencies and development of an HS+ completion plan.
  • Oral and written competency in English is needed to complete coursework and program portfolio. Students who do not meet required English competencies may enroll in CCB or ELA courses to improve their reading, writing, and verbal skills.
