Testing Center

The Testing Center at Skagit Valley College provides testing services for the Accuplacer placement test, CASAS assessment test, GED, industrial tests, ATI TEAS tests, and proctoring for course exams.

Skagit Valley College’s Testing Center subscribes to the mission and standards outlined by the National College Testing Association (NCTA) and is dedicated to providing quality assessment and testing services to the college community.

The Accuplacer assessment tool is used to determine your starting place in English and Mathematics. It is also used as a prerequisite to additional courses you may take. There is no “passing” score. Scores indicate areas in which you are strong and areas in which you may need to improve your skills.

Accuplacer is a computer-based assessment and is not timed. Whatever the results, Skagit Valley College has a starting place for you.

To learn more about Accuplacer Placement Testing and how to register, follow this link: /course-placement/accuplacer-test/

In a CASAS assessment session, you will complete assessments in reading, listening and math (depending on the program). These assessments will help us place you into classes and programs that will provide you with the best support.

Students can take a CASAS assessment test either in-person or remotely. In-person assessment sessions are held in both the Mount Vernon and Whidbey Island Campus.

  • Mount Vernon Campus: Lewis Hall L206
  • Whidbey Island Campus: Hayes Hall 109

To register for a CASAS test, you will need your ctcLink ID number. Make sure you bring a valid photo ID (such as school ID, driver’s license, passport, or government-issued ID) to your testing session.

TEAS stands for Test of Essential Academic Skills. It is used to determine the ability of potential students to be successful in a nursing program. The test is created and administered by Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI). It is a standardized exam that covers reading, math, English usage, and science. The most recent cohorts of nursing students received an average of an 83% total score on this exam.

You can take the TEAS test twice each academic year (a year is July 1-June 30); and scores are good for 3 years. Register at www.ATITesting.com. You will be required to create an account in order to register for the exam. Tests are offered in-person on the Mount Vernon Campus and remotely.

The SVC Testing Center offers proctored exams for SVC students as well as for the community. The testing fee for non-SVC students is $35 for the first hour and $20 for every hour after that. Please contact the Testing Center at testing@skagit.edu or call 360.416.7820 to set up your appointment.
