I-BEST – INTEGRATED BASIC EDUCATION AND SKILLS TRAINING
IBEST courses and programs are designed to help students succeed! Students can pursue progressional technical certificates or degrees or complete general education degree requirements such as ENGL&101, CHEM&121 or college math classes. Students in IBEST classes benefit from:
An Integrated Approach: IBEST classes utilize a team-teaching model where one instructor focuses on the required content of a a course, while the other instructor provides academic support in reading, writing, and math to enhance student learning.
Targeted Support: IBEST classes provide targeted support for students in reading, writing, math, and learning strategies.
Free Support Class: Most IBEST classes utilize a free support class. Students meet with their IBEST instructor regularly to work on class assignments and strengthen basic skills.

Who is eligible?
- Most SVC students who want/need help with reading, writing, math, or learning strategies are eligible.
- Students under 19 must be formally released from high school before enrolling.
- International students should speak with an advisor to identify available instructional supports for their needs.
