The Automotive Technology (AT) program boasts a prestigious master certification from
the Automotive Service Excellence Education (ASE). Recognized as a trailblazer in
automotive education, the program has clinched the top spot with the esteemed “Award
for Excellence” and holds the title of the nation’s premier college independent automotive
program.
Geared towards equipping students for thriving careers in the automotive industry,
the competency-based Automotive Technology program is fortified by its ASE Education
Foundation accreditation. This accreditation ensures that students benefit from top-notch
instructors and facilities that adhere to stringent national standards, paving the
way for graduates to secure outstanding job placements in their chosen automotive
careers. Given the rapid evolution of automotive technology, there is a growing demand
for highly skilled technicians, and the program positions its graduates for success
in various sectors, including new vehicle dealerships and independent repair facilities.
The Automotive Technology program distinguishes itself by seamlessly blending theoretical
knowledge with hands-on experience over six comprehensive quarters of instruction.
In a state-of-the-art workshop, students hone their diagnostic and repair skills on
late-model vehicles. The curriculum spans an array of subjects, encompassing brake
and suspension systems, electrical/electronic systems, automatic and manual transmissions,
heating and air conditioning, engines, engine performance, light-duty diesel, engine
machining, and cutting-edge hybrid-electric/electric vehicles.

- 7 quarters (up to 23 months) with 100 credits for the Automotive Technology AAS Degree
When do classes meet? 7:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Mondays - Wednesdays in -person (until 2:00 p.m. during summer
quarter). Thursdays hybrid.
Accreditation
The Automotive Technology Program curriculum is certified by the National Institute
for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). They are also certified through Boeing's
Pre-Employment Training (BPET) program where students are eligible to bypass the interview
process when applying for certain manufacturing jobs at Boeing.
Upon completion, Workforce degrees and/or certificates are intended to give students
the skills needed to move directly into employment. While these degrees are not intended
to transfer to a university, students will be eligible to apply for admission to Skagit
Valley College’s Bachelor of Applied Science - Management (BASM) degree or SVC’s Environmental Conservation, BAS (BAS-EC) and, in some cases, could transfer to other schools. If you are interested
in continuing your education by entering a bachelor’s degree program, please work
closely with your Academic Advisor and Department Chair.
