SVC Emergency & Childcare Assistance


The Emergency and Childcare Assistance programs provide limited financial support to help students remain enrolled and succeed in their academic goals. Funding is designed for sudden, urgent, or unforeseen expenses that impact a student’s ability to attend or complete classes.

Who Can Apply Program Eligibility Guidelines:

To be eligible for either Emergency or Childcare Assistance, students must:

  • Be actively enrolled and attending classes in the current quarter
  • Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Complete FAFSA or WASFA (if eligible)
  • Not be on financial aid suspension or drop status
  • Not owe a debt to the college (tuition, housing, fees, library fines, etc.)
  • Meet program-specific documentation requirements
    Eligibility and awards are dependent on available funding and reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.

How to Apply
All applicants must complete the online application and submit required documentation if required, including:

  • A statement of need describing your situation
  • Explanation of how funds will be used
  • Any supporting documentation (uploaded as a separate attachment if needed)

Once submitted, staff will:

  • Verify enrollment and attendance
  • Confirm financial aid eligibility
  • Review documentation
  • Determine award eligibility and amount

Applicants will be notified by email once a decision has been made.

Emergency Assistance
Supports urgent, unexpected expenses that impact a student’s ability to stay in school.

May include:

  • Housing support (rent assistance)
  • Utilities and essential bills
  • Transportation (gas, bus pass)
  • Food and groceries
  • Health-related expenses
  • Technology needs for school
    Maximum award: $1,000 per academic year

 
Childcare Assistance
Helps offset out-of-pocket childcare costs for dependents while attending classes, internships, or related academic activities.

  • Child must reside with the student
  • Ages 0–11 years
  • Requires submitted childcare invoice or documentation
  • Funding is limited and not guaranteed
    Maximum award: $1,000 per quarter per household

Important Notes:

  • Funding is limited and not guaranteed
  • Awards are based on need and available funds
  • Some flexibility in guidelines may be applied depending on circumstances
  • Students who have already received the annual maximum are not eligible for additional funds within the same academic year

Payments
 
If approved for funding, payment process will be determined by the College on a case-by-case basis. In most cases, award payments will be sent through Bankmobile. If you do not receive financial aid a check will be provided within 3-5 business days after approval.
