Sex Offenders on Campus

Our open enrollment policy makes it likely that, at any given time, there are convicted sex offenders taking classes on campus.  By law, sex offenders are required to notify law enforcement and/or the college of their intention to register at the college.  When we receive this information, we notify faculty, staff, and students who are likely to have contact with the offender according to the offender’s assigned level-their likelihood of re-offending.  In some cases, administrators will enter a classroom and announce when an offender is attending a particular class.  We expect that the students in each class will adjust their study habits and out of class interactions according to the information they receive.  Please be aware that parents will not be notified of these announcements.  If you or your student would like to know if there are level 2 or level 3 sex offenders on campus and who they are, you may inquire at the security office on campus. For more information and incident report statistics, visit the Safety & Security webpage.
