Start your journey at SVC. The application is free and takes about 10–15 minutes to complete. Once you apply, we’ll guide you through your next steps, including placement, financial aid, and registering for classes.

How to Apply to SVC
Follow these steps to apply and get started at SVC
Step 1: Complete Your Online Application
Complete your online application to get started. It’s free and takes about 10–15 minutes. If you have already created a ctcLink account elsewhere, you can apply using your existing ctcLink account.

Step 2: Complete Placement
Your placement determines which classes you can take. The right option depends on your background.
You may qualify for placement through:
- Transcripts (high school or college)
- Test scores or placement tests
- ESL / CASAS placement (for English language learners)
- International student placement options
Step 3: Activate ctcLink Account + Register for Classes
Activate your ctcLink account
Follow these steps to activate your ctcLink account. If you need assistance, contact the IT Helpdesk.
Once you’ve applied, completed placement and activated your ctcLink account, you’re ready to register.
Enrolling in multiple quarters or pursuing a degree or certificate?
You are required to attend New Student Registration before registering for classes.
All Running Start students: must attend New Student Registration, regardless of the number of credits they plan to take.
Taking only one or two classes?
If you plan to attend SVC for one quarter only or are taking one or two classes without pursuing a degree or certificate, you do not need to attend New Student Registration. Follow the steps below to register for classes.

Apply early! SVC accepts applications on a rolling basis.
Submit your application at least 2–3 weeks before the quarter begins to allow time
to complete all required steps. Applications received after the first day of the quarter
will be considered for the following quarter.
