MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — Students still have time to enroll for fall quarter at Skagit Valley College, which begins Sept. 22. Whether beginning college, returning to complete a degree, preparing for a new career, or participating in Running Start, SVC offers a variety of opportunities to help students get ready for the upcoming academic year.
High school students interested in earning college credit through Running Start are encouraged to attend one of two upcoming information sessions to learn about eligibility, enrollment requirements, and next steps before fall quarter begins.
Running Start Information Sessions
- Thursday, Aug. 13, 5:30–6:30 p.m.

Students planning to participate in Running Start this fall must also complete the required enrollment process, including obtaining a signed Running Start Enrollment Verification Form (RSEVF) from their high school counselor and attending one of the college's remaining New Student Registration sessions before registering for classes. Students who have not yet completed their RSEVF should plan to obtain it as soon as their high schools reopen in August.
Beyond Running Start, SVC offers affordable, high-quality educational opportunities across its five campuses and centers. Students can earn transfer degrees, workforce credentials, or bachelor's degrees while studying close to home. Programs span a wide range of high-demand fields, including allied health, advanced manufacturing, computer science, culinary arts, marine technology, nursing, environmental conservation, business, and education.
To support prospective students, SVC continues to offer free information and application assistance. Outreach specialists are available to help students explore programs, complete the admissions process, and prepare for fall enrollment.
To support new students, SVC continues offering information and application sessions to help applicants understand their next steps. Sessions are held Mondays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in Lewis Hall on the Mount Vernon campus and Tuesdays from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in Oak Hall, Room 227 on the Whidbey Island campus. No appointment is necessary, and one-on-one assistance with an outreach specialist is also available.
As SVC celebrates its centennial year, the college continues its century-long commitment to expanding educational access and creating opportunities for students to achieve their goals while strengthening the communities it serves.
